ReelTapes restores, sells, and buys Revox and Studer reel-to-reel recorders. We service all professional and prosumer tape recorders and audiophile equipment.

Reel-to-reel recorders have been part of my life for as long as I care to remember. In 1964 – I was just four years old – my dad bought a new 2-track Revox G36 and had it shipped to the Caribbean.
I watched those big reels spin for hours on end, amazed at the music that they seemed to contain.
After a lifelong career as a foreign correspondent, I have now started a business where I repair, restore, trade, and use R2R recorders to record (direct-to-tape) musicians from smaller ensembles to symphony orchestras.
At ReelTape, I do not use artificial intelligence or (perish the thought) DAW plugins. This is the home of analog recording.
Preview: Studer A810 VU for Sale
Available Soon – Launch Sales Drive Starts on September 1
ReelTape.eu is both proud and excited to offer this absolutely impeccable Studer A810 up for sale.
This unit has the much-coveted original build-in VU meters and the associated controls, making it an all-in-one solution for both studio and live recording.
This model is the largest and most sophisticated of Studer’s “portable” machine. However, portable is a relative concept in this case with the machine weighing in at some 31 kilos.
Sublime Unequalled Condition
This A810 has been sparingly used. The wear pattern on the heads is barely 1.5mm wide. The heads have been inspected by Summertone in England. It was their opinion that a relap would provide no benefit and the wiser course of action would be to perform a first relap only after many more thousand hours of use.
Cosmetically, the machine is in near-mint condition. The A810 was owned by a collector in France who barely used it other than to record and play Miles Davis vinyls.
The internal battery of the MP Unit has been replaced. The PCB on which it is mounted presents no signs of leakage. As a matter of course the pinch roller has been replaced as have the motor capacitors.
The Frakos and other caps susceptible to deterioration have been replaced. Whilst unnecessary, a full recap may be performed at cost. The reel tables have been repainted with Nextel by a specialised company in Switzerland.
After careful alignment on the ‘scope, this A810 performs flawlessly, handsomely beating all manufacturer’s specifications. This is not really a surprise, since Studer always rated its machines conservatively.
The machine comes with two pristine Dolby 361 noise reduction units equipped with the top-end Studer SR cards (and new meters) pushing the noise floor down by an additional 25dB for a stunning dynamic range of close to a stunning 95dB.
Restoring the A/B77

Unleash the audiophile power of your Revox A77 or B77 and enjoy another half century of superior performance. These machines are virtually indestructible and have outlasted all competitors – and will continue to do so.
ReelTape carries a full complement of upgrades; rebuilds machines with premier components; and sells both audiophile and standard versions of A77s and B77s.
Vintage Dolby

Improving signal-to-noise ratios from 10-15dB (A)to 25dB (SR) these 1970s units continue to command respect.
However, their rugged construction is marred by a single weak spot: the meter used set the proper recording level.
ReelTape now offers affordable drop-in brand-new replacement meters and all parts needed to keep vintage Dolby NR units fully operational.
