This superlative machine has been completely disassembled and restored/reconditioned in June/July 2026. The PR99 featured here is a unique specimen of the “King of Revox”.
The heads were relapped in UK by Summertone. Its mechanics were overhauled with new SKF bearings in all motors (and left-hand tape roller guide). New motor capacitors were installed as well as new brake bands, and new tape guides and lifters (4). Adjustments as per factory specs.
Rotary, toggle, and slide switches disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and polished. Potentiometers crack-free and lubed with Deoxit D5 contact cleaner. The plastic levers of the toggle switches have been replaced by sturdy metal ones.
All electrolytic capacitors were replaced with Panasonic Nichicon caps. All trimmers were replaced with sealed one from Piher and Bourns.
This one-of-a-kind machine fully works as Revox intended. It exceeds factory specs by a considerable margin. Frequency response is pancake-flat (+/- 1.5dB) up to 22kHz at 15 ips and 20kHz at 7.5 ips. Distortion, wow & flutter, tape slip, and s/n ratio all exceed factory specs by a significant margin.
This machine has been aligned to RTM SM911 tape. Please request alignment to your preferred tape formula.
Included: The optional Revox low-level transformer-balanced microphone input board, a €300+ value. Also included a pair of standard Revox NAB adapters with new o-rings. Of course the machine comes with a new power cord.
